I took a lot of time pondering my entry, and I remember what my Lawyering Process Professor said. She said, “Teyonnda, one day a little girl will listen to your story and be inspired.” Those words added to my feeling of walking in my PURPOSE as Proverb 31 Woman. To be a Titus 2 teacher of good things. My foundation is Biblical, rooted in righteous and justice. Along with homeschooling for 10 years, and raising 3 children ages 16,21,and 22, being a wife for 18 years and a daughter to a man fighting Stage 3 Lung Cancer, I knew I had to complete my dream of becoming a lawyer. I am now a non-traditional, 40 year old First Generation Law Student. I have guided and supported mothers through their own journeys to aid in rebuilding and re-establishing our society. I understand the future of our children rest in the strength and ability of their mother. It is critical to enable other women with the tools of never forgetting you exist and be patient enough with yourself to know that doing it all takes time. It’s okay to educate, and cater to you, it does not diminish your capabilities, but it increases the possibility that you can do what you set your mind to. I am a living testimony to how obstacles in your way can either build you or kill you, and God wants us to live eternally; so it serves to make us stronger. We are mothers, sisters, and friends; and we carry these loads like no one can. I would love to be selected for this opportunity because all my Best Friends wear crowns like mine and before I allow it to weigh heavy, I will Straighten it out.
