Enjoying Being Single After a Virginia Divorce

Posted on Nov 27, 2010 by Hofheimer Family Law

If you’re a woman who has recently gone through a Virginia divorce, you may be feeling lonely, anxious and unsure about the future.

Going through a Virginia divorce can throw anyone off balance, but this unstable feeling doesn’t last forever. Sometimes, it helps to focus on the positive aspects of your new life as a single woman.

While many young divorcees jump back into the dating scene right away, this might not be the best idea. Rebound relationships usually do not work out as planned.

Being single is about much more than dating; you can use this time to reconnect and deepen your relationships with friends and family or to get to know yourself better. Something as simple as small, inexpensive changes in your home décor can give you a fresh outlook on life.

If you married young, you may have gone straight from your family home to your marital home, without much alone time in between, so spending time by yourself after your Virginia divorce might be difficult at first.

Being single can help you develop your sense of self and prove how strong and self-reliant you can be. While your Virginia divorce was probably painful, it gave you some valuable life experience that can serve you well down the road.

So enjoy being single; work on your physical, mental and emotional well-being so that when the right person does come along, you’ll have the tools to embark on a healthy and rewarding partnership.
