What to Expect at a Virginia Custody Seminar

Posted on Sep 18, 2017 by Katie Carter

Custody cases are scary, and, whether you’ve hired an attorney or are hoping to handle your case yourself, you probably have a lot of questions about what to expect.  Obviously, you’ve also heard that there’s a seminar for Virginia moms facing custody cases, so now you’re probably wondering whether a Virginia custody seminar is going to have the answers for your questions and, ultimately, help with your case.  Am I right?

Well, you’re right to wonder, and it’s also normal to wonder what to even expect.  It probably sounds pretty boring to spend an entire day (well, most of an entire day) learning about the law.  Unless you’re a little bit nerdy, you’re probably not generally all that interested in the law.  Or you start to try to do legal research on a particular issue, and you get to the statutes and your eyes sort of start to glaze over.  (Trust me, this can happen to the best of us, and it’s completely understandable!)   You know, too, that it’s going to be chock full of information, but are you going to be able to take that information and use it when it really counts?  Could you really use it and NOT hire an attorney?  What about if you’ve already hired an attorney?  Can you use it to check up on the type of job they’re doing?  Can you use it to get rid of a GAL you hate?

There’s really no shortage of questions that can come up in a custody case, and it’s normal that you’re wondering whether Custody Bootcamp for Moms is the answer to a prayer. Even though the price is reasonable (it’s just $197, and we’ll stay until the last woman’s last question is answered, which is less than the cost of one hour with a moderately priced local attorney), it’s still, for many people, a considerable amount of cash.  You want to know that there’ll be a reasonably good return on your investment.   You want to know, in short, what you can expect from a Virginia custody seminar, so you can decide for yourself whether or not attending will be worth your while.

So, what can you expect from a Virginia custody seminar?

1. You’ll learn about the law regarding custody.

You can’t prepare for a custody case without knowing the law, right?  But reading those code sections can put ANYONE to sleep.  Besides, the best way to learn the law isn’t just by reading through the code, it’s from learning about it directly from someone who has experience dealing with it.  After all, it isn’t just what’s on the page in black and white, it’s how the law is applied in practice, and how the nuance can be interpreted.  You’ll learn about custody law at Custody Bootcamp, and you’ll need to know!

2. You’ll learn about courtroom procedure, including questioning and cross examining, making opening and closing arguments, and working with guardians ad litem and custody evaluators.

Yeah.  All that stuff.  And it’s super practical, too.  We find that lots of moms make common mistakes, not for any other reason than that they are unfamiliar with how the juvenile court system works (and, of course, sometimes their emotions run away with them, which makes some pieces more difficult to manage than others).  This isn’t stuff that’s taught in law school; it’s taught in the trenches.  It’s information that we’ve gathered from years of collective experience handling contested custody cases in Virginia.  We’ve prepared it all in an easy to understand format, and made it available to you because we know how important your custody case is.

3. You’ll learn how to check up on your attorney.

“Is my attorney doing what he’s supposed to do?”  It’s a question we hear all the time, and, usually, the women who are asking us have no idea how to gauge whether an attorney is making the best possible decisions for them in their cases.  That’s not a comfortable position to be in when your kids are at stake!  Asking questions can only get you so far, and, besides, your attorney is billing for every single one that you ask, so it’s hard to have the time to get to the heart of the matter.  At Custody Bootcamp, you’ll also learn what to look for when it comes to a custody attorney, so you can tell whether your attorney is representing you as effectively as possible.

4. You’ll have an opportunity to ask questions to a Virginia custody attorney without paying for a consultation.

Do you even need an attorney?  What should your next steps be?  How hard will this case be to win?  Can I handle it on my own?  If these are the types of questions you’re wondering, you’ll want to be sure to attend Custody Bootcamp.  Besides, nowhere else can you get access to a licensed, experienced, Virginia custody attorney for so long without spending a fortune.  We’ve been there.  We’ve handled similar cases, we know the judges, we know the law, and we can help teach you what you need to know to prepare for your upcoming custody case.  There’s probably nothing a whole lot more scary than a custody case, but when you leave Custody Bootcamp for Moms, you’ll do so with more knowledge of the process and what to expect than 99% of dads.  Besides that, you’ll have the confidence you need to walk into that courtroom with your head held high. It’s really a one of a kind of event.  Don’t miss it!  For more information about Custody Bootcamp for Moms, visit our website by clicking here.  On the page, you can also request a copy of our free report, “Can I REALLY Represent Myself in a Custody Case?”  Read it—you won’t regret it.  Hope to see you at the seminar!
