Next Girl’s Night Out: Wine Tasting at Ghent’s Mermaid Winery!

Posted on Nov 15, 2013 by Katie Carter

We just had our third Girl’s Night Out event, which was a barbecue and hayride out at Hunt Club Farms. We had SO much fun, and I’m definitely counting down until the next one.

If you haven’t been to a Girl’s Night Out event yet, you’re really missing out! So far, we’ve had an end of summer social at 501 City Grill, a comedy night at the Funny Bone, and our barbecue, which was catered by Beach Bully Barbecue (oh my goodness, yum!). The point is to get our current and former clients out on the town. The events are open to anyone, though, so if you’re not a current or former client, you’re still more than welcome to come—though, of course, we are limited to women only!

These events are fun and upbeat, and we try to encourage our attendees to be as engaged in the process as possible. In fact, when I asked the group for suggestions for upcoming events, they gave me the idea that turned into our December event!

On December 11th, we’re going to be meeting up at Mermaid Winery (located in Norfolk’s fashionable Ghent area) for a wine tasting and some snacks. I’ll admit, I’m a huge fan of Virginia wine, and I am of the opinion that what we make right here rivals anything from the Napa Valley! But, of course, I’m interested to hear what you think, too! We'll try five different local Virginia wines, including Siren's White (a white blend including Viognier, Petit Manseng, and Roussane), Poseidon's Red (a red blend including Pinotage, Syrah, and Tannat), a Chardonnay, a Cabernet Franc, and a Raspberry wine. Yum!

Come out and join us, and enjoy a tasting—plus some yummy snacks, including a baked brie, cheese and crackers, hummus and pita points, and a baked flatbread. If you’re interested in checking out the winery’s website (including some tasting notes about the five wines we’ll be tasting), just click here.

For more information about the upcoming event, or to register, click here. Come as you are and, if you’re not comfortable coming alone, feel free to bring a (female!) friend or two. Even if you are comfortable coming alone, bring a friend! The more the merrier! I hope to see you there!
