Divorce Support Group

Going through a divorce isn’t easy. It isn’t easy for anyone, no matter what specific issues brought you to where you are today.
No matter what you’re going through, you don’t want to be defined by your divorce. You, like any woman facing adversity, want to come out on the other side, better, stronger, and happier than you were before. Getting there—to that magical end point—can be difficult, though.
Even though you have friends and family members who have been there before and can likely offer you some insight, it’s rare that a person really has someone who can deal with all they’re feeling and help them understand the process. We usually recommend that our clients work through this transition with a therapist, but some people are more willing than others to actually do it—which, of course, is their prerogative anyway. Still, though, many people face a limit; there’s a point at which your friends and family members just can’t hear any more details about your divorce (after all, they’re going through things, too) and, even if they could, it can stop being productive.
That’s why we decided to create a women’s only divorce support group for current Hofheimer Family Law clients. We noticed that it was something being offered less and less often by other local groups, and it was a concern to us. We know, from having dealt with thousands and thousands of divorcing women, how difficult it can be and how much need there truly is for a group type setting to provide support and encouragement.
Our new group is called “Divorce Life Hacks and Support” and Kristen Hofheimer, our managing partner and a general all around awesome person, will be running it. I’m really excited! Our group is going to focus on dealing with the difficulties of divorce productively, including staying positive through divorce, dealing with the stress involved, building a strong support system, and helping your kids navigate through it all.
Our first divorce support group will be held at 4pm on Saturday, January 28th, immediately following Custody Bootcamp for Moms. (Which, by the way, you should also consider attending if you’ve got a custody case or are hoping to represent yourself at the juvenile court level; just give our office a call at 757-425-5200 to register.) Our divorce support group (and Custody Bootcamp for Moms) will be held at our Virginia Beach office location:
Hofheimer Family Law Firm
1604 Hilltop West Executive Center
Suite 300
Virginia Beach, Virginia 23451

We can’t do it all, but we’ve got a good start, and we definitely hope to see you there!
