Girl’s Night Out: Galentine’s Day 2024

Posted on Jan 19, 2024 by Katie Carter

In case you’re new or haven’t yet attended a Girl’s Night Out event, I wanted to be the first to invite you to attend our upcoming event on Tuesday, February 13th – Galentine’s Day – at the Banque in Norfolk, off of Little Creek.

What is Girl’s Night Out?

We’ve been practicing divorce and custody for a long time, and one of the things that we often hear is how socially isolating it can be.  Not only do many women actively lose their friends in the divorce process – because they were ‘our’ friends or because they work better for couples type events or even because they were more ‘his’ friends than yours and, well, they chose a side – but it’s helpful to connect with people who’ve been in your shoes.  However well-meaning, friends who haven’t been through a divorce can’t always be as helpful or as understanding as you might need or want them to be.

It’s also expensive, so having the money to go out can be a bit of a stretch, too.  The money that you do have might be earmarked for other things, anyway, so thinking about spending ten dollars on a cocktail is a little bit out of reach.

Recovering from a divorce is a holistic concept; it’s not just a question of getting a divorce decree entered (though there’s no question that certainly helps).  We are social creatures and we need social connection – so Girl’s Night Out was born.

These events are purely social – no divorce or custody case required.  They’re happy hour style, so we provide some appetizers, drinks, and – of course – a venue.  All you have to do is show up; it’s totally free and you’re more than welcome to bring a friend (or two) along.

What is Galentine’s Day?

Galentine’s Day is the day before Valentine’s Day, and it’s a day set aside specifically to celebrate girlfriends.  We figure, what could POSSIBLY be a better time for us to all get together?  Whether you have a Valentine or not, you certainly have Galentines – and we’d love for you to celebrate the evening with us.

Tell me more about Girl’s Night Out at the Banque.

This year, our Galentine’s Day event is back at the Banque.  It’s a venue we’ve used over the years and it’s always super popular.  (Something about that extra large – I think it’s velvet? – Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton picture does it for people, I think.)

This year, we’ve reserved the ENTIRE space 100% to ourselves; there’ll be no other groups at the venue at all.

We’ve planned a great menu, including chicken sliders, lumpia, a salad bar, and fruit.  Non-alcoholic drinks – coffee, tea, soda, water – are included, but we’ll also provide a drink ticket if you’d prefer something a little stronger.  It’s totally up to you.  (Though most people drink, you are certainly not expected or required or encouraged to drink!)

We’ve also got a DJ and – AND! – our own, private line dancing instructor.

There’s no dress code, but you are certainly welcome to wear your cowgirl boots/hats if you’ve got them.  Be you, be comfortable!  (Yes, in case you were wondering, leggings are perfectly appropriate!)

The event is from 6-8pm, it’s totally free for you, and we hope you’ll join us!

Where can I RSVP?

For more information or to register online, visit our site here.

Though you are not required to register – and we absolutely will NOT turn you away if you haven’t – it’s really helpful if you do.  We order food according to the number of people registered, and most venues require us to confirm our numbers within a week or two of the event.  So, the more information we have, the better prepared we can be.

In most cases, I can order more food if I need to – and sometimes I do!  But it’s also helpful going in to have a good idea of the head count!

Whether you’re coming alone or bringing a friend, if you could manage to RSVP, we’d surely appreciate it – me most of all!  But if you haven’t registered, don’t you dare get down to the wire on the 13th and decide not to come just because you haven’t!  (Also: no guilt if something comes up – we completely understand and, anyway, I guarantee you others will come who haven’t registered!)

Again, for more information or to RSVP, visit our website – otherwise, we hope to see you at the Banque on February 13th at 6pm.
