Here in Hampton Roads, the military presence is everywhere. From bumper stickers proclaiming “I LOVE JET NOISE” to various deployments and homecomings, we see military all day, every day, everywhere. It’s something we’re proud of, and something that gives us a sense of regional identity. We see uniformed active duty service members sitting in restaurants, pumping gas at the service station, and alongside us pushing their grocery carts. We know, probably better than most places in the US, that freedom isn’t free, and that it isn’t just the active duty service members who are serving this country.
If you’re active duty or you’re married to someone who is active duty, we salute you for a change. Knowing the military the way we do, from having represented countless service members and spouses, we’re probably pretty uniquely situated to understand the sacrifices military service members and their spouses make every single day to keep us safe and to support our way of life.
On Veteran’s Day, and, really, every single day, we’re grateful for our service member men and women. It stands out, for us, anyway, as a time to do something important and special to say thank you to women military service members, and the military spouses who are often the unsung heroes. All too often, it’s the male service members who receive all the credit for the work that is done, and that’s just not accurate!
Women military service members are everywhere, doing everything, and doing it while balancing a million other things that modern life requires. Military spouses, too, are juggling children, houses, jobs, and everything else during deployments and work ups and whenever their spouses can’t provide them with the kind of consistent support that many non military families are used to receiving.
Though we appreciate the sacrifice that many men in uniform have made, at Hofheimer Family Law, we celebrate the women. We’re committed, this year and every year, to celebrating our service WOMEN in uniform and the wives at home, married to military service men, who stay behind and keep everything else running smoothly.
To you, we say: we’re grateful for you. Grateful for the sacrifices you’ve made and the way that your service has strengthened our country. Your role, though often unrecognized, has been instrumental and we’d like to be among the first to personally thank you, sincerely, from the bottom of our hearts, for what you’ve done, and continue to do, for our country.
So, what can we do to express our gratefulness? How do we acknowledge the sacrifices you’ve made, and give something else back to you?
We’ve come up with something that we’d like to offer to you, active duty military service woman or female military spouse, to express our gratefulness for everything that you do—on Veteran’s Day, and every other day of the year.
